The Require Deposit feature allows you to collect a partial payment during checkout to confirm an appointment. This helps reduce no-shows and ensures customers are committed before their repair is scheduled.

You can collect either a fixed amount or a percentage of the total repair cost.

Where to Find Require Deposit Settings

To access this feature:

  1. Go to RepairPlugin β†’ Settings β†’ Checkout & Discount

  2. Scroll down to the Require Deposit section

Enabling Require Deposit

Require a Deposit When Checking Out

Toggle this option ON to activate deposit collection during checkout.

When enabled:

  • Customers must pay a deposit before completing their booking

  • The remaining balance can be collected later

  • Deposits apply automatically to all bookings

Deposit Type

You can choose how the deposit is calculated.

Fixed Amount

Select Fixed if you want to charge a specific amount upfront.

  • Example: $20 deposit regardless of total price

  • Enter the amount in the Amount field

Percentage

Select Percentage if you want to charge a percentage of the total repair cost.

  • Example: 30% of the total order

  • Enter the percentage value in the Amount field

Deposit Amount

Use the Amount field to define how much is charged at checkout.

  • For Fixed, enter a currency value

  • For Percentage, enter a percent value

Changes apply immediately after saving.

Charge Full Amount Threshold

Charge Full Amount if Deposit Covers More Than X% of Total

This option prevents charging very small remaining balances.

  • Enter a value between 50–100%

  • If the deposit already covers this percentage of the total, the full amount will be charged instead

  • This helps avoid collecting tiny balances later

Example:

  • Threshold set to 70%

  • Deposit equals or exceeds 70% of total

  • Customer is charged the full amount at checkout

How Deposits Appear to Customers

During checkout:

  • Customers see the deposit amount clearly

  • The remaining balance is calculated automatically

  • The booking is confirmed only after payment is completed

Best Practices

  • Use a reasonable deposit amount to avoid friction

  • Combine deposits with clear cancellation policies

  • Test both fixed and percentage options

  • Review checkout totals before going live
